Meaningful change often begins with finding the right support. Working with a therapist who understands eating disorders, anxiety, burnout, and postpartum mental health can help change happen at a pace that feels sustainable.
With thoughtful guidance, healing can unfold in a way that honors your body, mind, and relationships. Therapy can help you feel more grounded, connected, and at ease in your daily life.
Based in the DMV area, I provide therapy to residents of Virginia, DC, and Maryland.
Therapy looks different for everyone, and my work is individualized to your specific needs, experiences, and goals. I use evidence-based approaches to support women working through eating disorder recovery, anxiety, postpartum anxiety and depression, and other life challenges.
When needed, I incorporate EMDR to help process difficult experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable. My therapy services are designed to meet you where you are and support meaningful change at your own pace.

"I can't recommend working with Colleen enough! Being under her supervision for nearly 4 years, I learned so much from her about being a therapist. Colleen has great clinical insight, professionalism, and genuine care for her clients. She is extremely skilled and experienced in working with the eating disorder population, I know any therapists working with her are in good hands!"
Hannah Moore, LPC
"Colleen helped me learn to drown out the noise of my own inner critic and reframe my thinking. There were certain narratives I had continually been subscribing to and she helped me realize that your thoughts are not always necessarily true. She is encouraging and very easy to talk to even if you are new to therapy - just like I was when I started out with her - and I can truly say she helped guide me to a much happier and better place in life."
Former client, age 32
"Colleen helped me through a really difficult time in my late twenties with navigating personal and professional difficulties. She is gentle and non-judgmental, but direct in her therapeutic approach. I appreciated her helping guide me to my own conclusions to help take responsibility over my own life."
Former client, age 32
"I started seeing Colleen after going through a really difficult breakup that led me to move back to the area. It was valuable to get a different perspective, and learn how to cope with some negative thoughts I had always had about myself. She reminded me that things in life are temporary, and was patient and caring in our sessions. "
Former client, age 28
"I was going through a lot of things contributing to my burnout - getting married, working too many hours, and mood fluctuations that were tied to my hormonal cycle. After meeting with Colleen, she made me feel less alone, normalized my feelings, and helped me with setting boundaries at work and in my personal life. I also knew she went out of her way for me to consult with other health professionals to seek answers and get resources for my hormonal issues. I am so grateful for her."
Former client, age 33
"I never thought I'd be free of the belief "I'm not enough" and "I have to be helpful to others". After just a few sessions of EMDR with Colleen, I felt better than I ever thought I could feel about myself. Not only do I feel better and lighter, but I truly do not believe those ideas anymore. It has been life changing."
Former client, age 38
"Colleen is a phenomenal eating disorder therapist! She has a wide range of experience working at an eating disorder treatment center, supervising other therapists, giving presentations, and working with children, adults, and families in her practice. She is compassionate and direct, which makes her my go-to eating disorder therapist referral."
Molly Bremer, MS, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
"Our daughter worked with Colleen McCarron from ages 15 to 18 for treatment of an eating disorder, and we cannot overstate the positive impact she had on our daughter’s recovery and overall well-being. Equally important, she was a resource for me as a mother, offering guidance, education, and support during a time that can feel overwhelming for parents. Her ability to work collaboratively with both my daughter and our family made all the difference."
Parents of former teen client
“Working with Colleen feels like talking to your best friend … but that best friend has an education and expertise in the exact areas you need. I personally didn’t receive the support I needed and deserved from my parents. I did receive it from Colleen”
Former client, age 36
"Colleen helped me overcome my depression and anxiety and build stronger relationships with myself and my family. Above all, she's such a kind person who makes it incredibly easy to be vulnerable."
Former client, age 26
"Colleen created a space where I felt seen, heard, and supported while starting and navigating my eating disorder recovery, and she gently challenged me in ways that led to real growth. I’m incredibly grateful for the clarity, trust in myself, and sense of stability I gained through our work together.”
Former client, age 30
"I had terrible postpartum anxiety. I was always worried about my new baby, imagined the worst scenarios, couldn't sleep, and just felt like I didn't matter anymore. Working with Colleen helped me feel like myself again, and knowing she was a mom too made it much easier for me to be honest. I can't recommend her enough."
